Care-Sure fact sheet number five (b)

OCCASIONAL / LOCUM TRAINERS

Are there occasions when other trainers/assessors take your sessions or workshops?

If you occasionally introduce your students to other Trainers / Assessors and are unsure that these trainers have insurance themselves, you might wish to consider this.

Occasional Trainers/Locum Liability extends to indemnify you if you arrange training sessions or workshops, where other trainers/assessors are brought in especially (maximum 14 sessions /days per each trainer/assessor per annum).

Although many First Aiders would carry their own insurance, it cannot be assumed that this is always the case.  Similarly, occasional trainers providing cover on an irregular basis may not have kept their insurance in force, especially if they consider themselves to be (semi) retired.

If you are either unsure that someone has the cover needed or you are reluctant to enquire too closely on the subject, you might consider it worthwhile to protect your own position by adding an extension of cover to your own Care-Sure certificate.

Cover will be subject to Endorsement 14a Guest Trainer/Assessor/Locum Liability Extension, which states: This policy extends to indemnify the Insured against claims arising from qualified trainer/assessor/locum acting on behalf of the Insured for a maximum of 14 days in any one Period of Insurance, as though that trainer/assessor were the Insured.

This clause confers benefits only upon the Insured as named in the Schedule and for the purposes of the contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 it is hereby noted and agreed that the parties to this contract do not intend – this policy or any term of this policy or of any endorsement to be enforceable by any other person
