Yoga-Link fact sheet number eight
YOGA JOURNEYS
In recent times we have witnessed huge growth in yoga practice and with it, significant development in the yoga marketplace. From classes to courses, from day seminars to training workshops, from residential retreats to exotic yoga holidays, there are many more people taking advantage of the range of alternatives on offer.
DSC Insurance Services already look after the Public Liability and Malpractice insurance for thousands of yoga teachers under the Yoga-Link scheme. Now we can also offer Group Travel Insurance for those that need it. Increasing numbers of teachers arrange overseas travel for parties where yoga sessions form an integral part of the programme.
The ‘Yoga Journeys’ plan has been arranged in co-operation with Byrne & Stacey Underwriting Ltd and underwritten by Gerling at Lloyd’s for Lloyd’s Syndicate 1206. It was especially conceived for Yoga-travellers and incorporates two additional and particular ‘yoga’ benefits unique to the market:
- Cancellation cover available for all participants where the tutor/group organiser can’t travel due to sickness and a replacement cannot be found
- A rebate of up to 35% of tuition fees in the event of accident or sickness that renders a student unable to take part in the yoga sessions
Attached you will find a brief outline of the policy benefits and current rates for both Europe and Worldwide trips. A complete summary and sample certificate and schedule wording is also available on request.
Please contact us for a quotation and ensure that your yoga-travelling companions have the cover they need.

Additional benefits:
1) The Cancellation Section – Section 1 of the Schedule of Benefits, is extended under part (i) on the certificate wording to include the Yoga tutor if he/she should be part of the travel party and is unable to travel, and an appropriate replacement cannot be arranged.
2) If during the Period of Travel the Insured Person suffers accidental bodily injury or illness and as a result is unable to continue to take any further part in the yoga course, Underwriters agree to pay up to but not exceeding 35% of the course fees to be paid or contracted to be paid prior to the commencement of your trip where you do not curtail your trip or £250 whichever is the less, only on the basis that no more than 60% of the Period of Travel has been completed.
The Underwriters shall only be liable under this section if the Insured Person obtains and submits written confirmation from the doctor in the resort that the bodily injury or illness prevented them from taking part in yoga for the remainder of the Period of Travel.
